About Banbury Biology Tutoring
Experienced biology tutor, examiner and content writer
My name is Naomi Holyoak. Since completing a biology degree and PGCE at the University of Oxford, I have taught secondary biology in the classroom and have been a biology tutor for more than ten years, supporting students at GCSE and A Level.
I have worked as an A Level examiner for a major UK exam board, meaning that I am familiar with the requirements of A Level mark schemes and can bring this expertise to tutoring sessions for the benefit of my students.
I have also had classroom resources published, and have created content for an online revision provider. During this time I have written content based on AQA, OCR, CIE, Edexcel and IB specifications, meaning that I am well placed to support students across a range of exam boards.
Biology tuition
I provide private lessons for students studying biology up to A Level, either face-to-face at my home in Banbury or online via Zoom.
I am a patient and approachable teacher, and I aim to make biology accessible and enjoyable for all my students. One-to-one tuition allows me to tailor lessons to individuals in a way that isn’t always possible in a classroom setting. Depending on a student’s needs, lessons may involve working through and consolidating content in detail, tackling exam questions together to build exam skills and confidence, or working on revision plans and techniques.
Lessons make use of a range of resources, including student textbooks, online revision materials and past papers. In addition I often use an online whiteboard to work through calculation questions, and to provide visual explanations of tricky content.
My current rate is £55 per hour.
